NEA Chairman Rocco Landesman and Deputy Secretary of HUD Ron Sims to Discuss Role Arts Play in Economic Development in Chicago RegionApril 25, 2011
Rocco Landesman, Chairman of the National Endowment for the Arts and Ron Sims, Deputy Secretary of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development will discuss the role the arts play in the development of a thriving Chicago region. They will share news of their recent collaboration through the Sustainable Communities Partnership, a national effort to build economic competitiveness by connecting housing with good jobs, quality schools, a thriving creative sector, and transportation. A panel of Chicago-based experts in business, community development, and the arts will discuss the role and value of integrating artistic and cultural activities into their work in region. The program is supported by the MacArthur Foundation, in partnership with Arts Alliance Illinois.
