NEA Chairman Rocco Landesman's Statement on the Death of NEA Jazz Master Bob BrookmeyerFor immediate release
“On behalf of the National Endowment for the Arts, it is with great sadness that I acknowledge the passing of 2006 NEA Jazz Master Bob Brookmeyer. An innovative composer and arranger for both large and small ensembles as well as a gifted musician on the valve trombone and piano, Brookmeyer was also a devoted educator of young performers and composers. We join many others in the jazz community and beyond in mourning his death while celebrating his life and numerous contributions to jazz.”
