The National Endowment for the Arts mourns the passing of organist extraordinaire Jimmy Smith. Only last month, on January 7th, Mr. Smith accepted his award as a 2005 NEA Jazz Master, the nation's highest honor in jazz, at an awards ceremony and concert in Long Beach, CA. Our thoughts are with his family and friends as we sadly acknowledge this great loss to the world of jazz.
