Wormfarm Institute

Reedsburg, Wisconsin
$100,000

The NEA grant will support ephemeral art installations, pasture performances, and artist-designed farm stands as part of a 50-mile self-guided tour through scenic farm land in Sauk County, Wisconsin. The Farm/Art DTour will bring together farming, conservation, and the arts in ways that engage the imagination and deepen a sense of place during a festival that will feature several stops enlivened by art works, performances, and other cultural experiences. In addition to the 10-day Farm/Art DTour, a long-term sustainability plan will be completed and a template for replicating the program in other communities. Wormfarm Institute and Sauk County will collaborate with a minimum of 11 project partners, including the Wisconsin U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Development, Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation, and Wisconsin Farmers Union. Sauk County has a population of 62,000 and is known for its rich agricultural heritage and strong conservation legacy.
