City of Lincoln

Lincoln, Nebraska
$50,000

Throughout the history of Lincoln, Nebraska, the city has welcomed a series of immigrants and refugees. Since 2003, the City of Lincoln has built capacity among new American communities so they could engage in the arts.

The City's Parks & Recreation Department is working with the Lincoln Arts Commission and nine local organizations to engage local artists and arts organizations to activate public spaces across the city, making a point to include minorities and immigrants in the planning process. Project activities will result in a plan to guide creative sector growth, public art guidelines, and coordinated arts programming in public spaces. It is estimated that 400,000 individuals will attend arts activities over a two-year period and that the project will develop the capacity of local artists and arts organizations to engage with a broader audience.
