Lawrence Christon

Born in New York City, award-winning journalist Lawrence Christon served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1963 to 1969, including active Reserve duty in communications at the Marine Corps Recruit Depot in San Diego. At the end of his service, he was enlisted man in charge of the 3rd Battalion Public Information Office in Los Angeles. For 23 years, Christon served as a staff writer for the Los Angeles Times, where he was drama critic, columnist, features and profiles writer, essayist, and reporter. During his tenure, he reported on international cultural developments, with special emphasis on Brazil, South Africa, and Australia. In recognition of his achievements, he has received the Los Angeles Press Club Award. Christon has also written for The Washington Post, Daily Variety, New Times, the Long Beach Press-Telegram, the San Diego Union-Tribune, and Orange Coast Magazine. Many of his articles have focused on the U.S. military, including the Persian Gulf War. He has contributed stories to radio stations in Santa Monica and Los Angeles, and he regularly appears as a political commentator on cable programming. He has also lectured at UCLA, Cerritos College, the University of Judaism, and other institutions. Christon lives in Downey, California, where he is completing a novel, as well as a screenplay for Hemisphere Productions.
