The following day, Friday, June 29, 2007 was the annual Ralph Rinzler Memorial Concert, part of the Smithsonian Folklife Festival. The concert's honoree was Bess Lomax Hawes, the first NEA director of the folk and tradtional arts and the inspiration behind the Fellows program. Fellows Liz Carroll, John Cephas, and Michael Doucet performed before a packed and lively tent audience.
