To support an exhibtion of work by mixed media artists who create sculptural compositions from books. The exhibition will be presented at the Halsey Institute of Contemporary Art during the Spoleto Festival. Proposed artists Noriko Ambe, Brian Dettmer, Long-Bin Chen, Guy Laramee, Francesa Pastine, and Doug Beube will be asked to create new work that responds to the diminishing relevance of the physical book.

To support the Ask the Artist Series for Underserved Communities, a series of workshops, demonstrations, and studio sessions at partner sites directed by a roster of guest artists. Proposed visual artists Beth Melton, Kirill Simin, and Kirkland Smith, among others, will conduct programming for constituents of the South Carolina Department of Juvenile Justice and St. Lawrence Place, a transitional housing program for homeless families in Columbia, part of the Midlands community.

To support multidisciplinary programming for the Spoleto Festival. This project will include the American premieres of the opera Matsukaze by Toshio Hosokawa as well as Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream adapted by Bristol Old Vic and Handspring Puppet Company.

To support Diverse Voices: Discovering Community through Traditional Arts. The project will develop a permanent gallery to showcase and interpret the McKissick Museum's folklife collection and ongoing folklife research in the state.
