FIELD/DISCIPLINE: Arts Education To support arts education at the Sitka Fine Arts Camp, a residential multidisciplinary summer arts camp for middle and high school students in Alaska. Students will be taught dance, theater, music, creative writing, visual arts, and Alaskan Native arts by a faculty of artists and educators from around Alaska and the nation. FIELD/DISCIPLINE: Challenge America To support Alaska AIR, an artist residency program. The program, featuring national visual and performing artists selected through a competitive application process, fosters the creation of new work and includes educational outreach activities such as workshops, artist talks, and performances in Homer and surrounding areas of South Central Alaska. FIELD/DISCIPLINE: Folk and Traditional Arts To support Yupiit Yuraryarait, a Yup'ik dance festival. Groups from remote Alaska Native villages will demonstrate songs and dances that pre-date contact with the Western world. As many as 24 dance groups will attract an estimated 1,200 audience members. FIELD/DISCIPLINE: Challenge America To support performances by the Good Lovelies, a Toronto-based vocal trio. The project includes public a performance in Fairbanks, performances for K-12 and high school students, and rural outreach performances in Healy and Delta Junction. FIELD/DISCIPLINE: Folk and Traditional Arts To support the Native Artist Demonstrators Program. The project will bring Alaskan Native artists to the museum for residencies, where they will demonstrate their art and share their culture with visitors. As many as 16 artists will present wood, ivory and silver carving, drum making, beading, skin sewing, basket, and textile weaving. Homer Council on the Arts Homer, AK $10,000

FIELD/DISCIPLINE: Challenge America To support performances and workshops featuring Quixotic, an ensemble of artists representing visual and performing arts disciplines.
