To support the Florida African Dance Festival. The event will include dance and drum workshops taught by African immigrant artists representing Senegal, Guinea, Mali, and Cote d'Ivoire as well as a performance.

Alabama Educational Television Foundation Authority (aka Alabama Public Television)

To support Journey Proud, a television series documenting various Alabama traditions. The 30-minute programs will feature Alabama artists based on the relevant research and fieldwork by noted scholars, including Alabama Center for Traditional Culture staff members, ethnomusicologist Steve Grauberger, and folklorists Deborah Boykin and Anne Kimzey.

To support Sacred Sounds and Sacred Places, physical and online exhibits dedicated to Alabama's traditional sacred music. The multimedia exhibits will use artifacts, photographs, audio, and video recordings to present the artistry of Sacred Harp, Christian Harmony, and Gospel Quartets.

To support the traditional components of the Festival of Philippine Arts & Culture. The project will present traditional music and dance from different regions of the Philippines, along with craft demonstrations and traditional foods.

To support the American Folk Festival. Traditional artists will participate in performances, demonstrations, and workshops of regionally significant music, dance, crafts, and storytelling.

To support traditional music programming at the Blue Ridge Music Center. The project will present concerts, lectures, and workshops celebrating music and dance traditions of the Appalachian Mountains, featuring local and regional talent, including NEA National Heritage Fellow Wayne Henderson.

To support Dutch Hop Film Documentation, a film and website presenting the traditional music and dance of the Volga German communities of western Nebraska, southeastern Wyoming, and northeastern Colorado. The film will trace the development of Dutch Hop music and dance, as well as present the tradition in different contexts, from public dances to private celebrations.

To support Yupiit Yuraryarait, a Yup'ik dance festival. Groups from remote Alaska Native villages will demonstrate songs and dances that pre-date contact with the Western world. As many as 24 dance groups will attract an estimated 1,200 audience members.

To support the Masters of Scottish Arts Concert and Celtic Arts Instructional Schools. The Celtic Arts Foundation will produce a concert of traditional music and dance performed by masters of Scottish bagpipes, Scottish-style drums, fiddling, and dance from the British Isles and Canada. Also, the master musicians will teach classes for aspiring musicians.

To support Shiva: Creation, Destruction, Preservation, a narrative dance about the royal court of North India. NEA National Heritage Fellow Pandit Chitresh Das will direct and choreograph a suite of works featuring dancers, master Indian musicians, and multimedia images.

To support the Great Lakes Folk Festival. The festival will showcase the traditional music, dance, foodways, and other cultural expressions of the nation's Upper Midwest. The festival will provide performances and demonstrations for approximately 125 artists.

To support The Working Waterfront Festival. The occupational culture of commercial fishing and other port industries has changed in the past decade, as demonstrated through traditional music, dance, storytelling, poetry, and foodways.

To support New Lives/New England, a traveling exhibition and series of artists workshops focusing on communities of recent immigrants in Maine, Vermont, and Connecticut. Through the project, the importance of traditional arts in immigrant communities for maintaining identity and adapting to new homes will be highlighted.

To support the Augusta Heritage Center's Traditional Arts Program. The Traditional Arts Program will support programming that preserves the folk arts of West Virginia through workshops, performances, festivals, craft fairs, documentary projects, and outreach initiatives (including the "Mountain Dance Trail" promoting traditional square dances found in small towns across the state).

To support Masters of Traditional Arts Touch Screens. The project will create interactive kiosks and wall environments containing photographs, interviews, video, audio, and biographical texts about the 350 NEA National Heritage Fellows. The touch screens will update existing DVD kiosks and will be made available to museums, libraries, and cultural organizations nationwide.

To support Hossein Omoumi: Classical Persian Music from Isfahan to Irvine, an educational documentary featuring a master of the Persian reed flute. An educational handbook and a website will enhance the project.

To support Folkstreams.net, an Internet site that streams films about folk and traditional arts. Folkstreams, Inc., will continue to provide access to films concerned with traditional arts and culture, while adding new films to the website, developing contextual background materials for these films, and implementing an open source data management system to make the site easier to maintain and administer.

To support the Native Artist Demonstrators Program. The project will bring Alaskan Native artists to the museum for residencies, where they will demonstrate their art and share their culture with visitors. As many as 16 artists will present wood, ivory and silver carving, drum making, beading, skin sewing, basket, and textile weaving.

To support Artists at Work: Master Artists-in-Residence, a project featuring artists from Bali, Indonesia, and Kolkata, India. The guest artists will work with students to strengthen their skills and understanding of traditional Balinese music through creating a new work and reconstructing several traditional works.

Historical Association of Southern Florida, Inc. (aka HistoryMiami)

To support the Heritage Spotlight Series, public events and school programs featuring Caribbean and South American folk artists of area ethnic communities. Artists nominated for the 2013 series include flamenco performers Paco and Celia Fonta, Haitian drummer Joseph Senatus, Peruvian music and dance ensemble Perú Expresión, junkanoo artists Bahamas Junkanoo Revue, and others. In addition, project activities will be documented through interviews, photographs, and videos, and then posted online as an educational resource.

To support the Native American Arts Program and Festival. The project will include free performances, lecture-demonstrations, gallery events, storytelling, and hands-on workshops with prominent Native American traditional and contemporary artists.

To support Traditional Arts in Contemporary Indiana Communities, organized by Traditional Arts Indiana. Traditional Arts Indiana will create a series of exhibit panels featuring traditional artists that will travel to libraries across the state; present public programs such as concerts and workshops; and produce a website about the artists.

To support the West African Dance and Drum Festival. Master artists from Mali, Guinea, and Senegal will offer a series of workshops and a performance, culminating with a West African dance performance featuring many of the artists and workshop students.

To support traditional music programming at the Laurel Theater that is also broadcast on local radio. Jubilee Community Arts will support fieldwork to identify, document, and present local traditional musicians, as well as present recognized regional and national traditional artists, such as NEA National Heritage Fellows Clyde Davenport, Ralph Stanley, and Kevin Burke.

Korean American Resource and Cultural Center (aka Spirits of Poongmul)

To support IlkwaNori International Joint Production, a concert of traditional Korean music and dance. The Korean American Resource and Cultural Center will bring as many as six dancers and musicians from Korea to offer instruction and a joint performance with local pungmul musicians.

Local Learning: The National Network for Folk Arts in Education

To support outreach and technical assistance activities benefiting folk arts in education practitioners. This project will feature continuing publications and an online newsletter; adding more resource material to the website; hosting a professional development conference; and an ongoing commitment to Local Learning in Louisiana, a project in the state's public schools.

To support VivaFest!, a Mexican heritage and mariachi festival. The Mexican Heritage Center will present traditional music, dance, visual arts, and foodways of Mexican and American Latinos through performances, workshops, and films.

To support the Bluegrass Review radio show broadcast on KBEM-FM. The project will involve the production and promotion of a weekly program of bluegrass music, which includes information about the genre's history and aesthetics; interviews with artists and significant bluegrass figures; and in-depth commentary about the music.

To support the Prince Lot Hula Festival. The oldest and largest non-competitive hula event in Hawaii, the festival presents both ancient and modern performances of traditional dance performed by hula schools from Oahu, as well as offering educational displays, craft demonstrations, and music performances.

To support the National Folk Festival in Nashville, Tennessee. The festival, a large outdoor event that showcases the nation's finest traditional artists, will present an array of music and dance performances, workshops, storytelling, and crafts, as well as regional and ethnic foods prepared by community members.

To support the Crescent City Blues and BBQ Festival. Staged in downtown New Orleans, the project will feature performances of the blues music of Louisiana and the Delta South; local crafts and foodways; and a stage where scholars will interview blues artists.

To support the Annual Gathering of Basketweavers, Youth Weaving Programs and Mini- Gatherings. The Gathering offers an opportunity for indigenous weavers to showcase their basketry and participate in seminars about relevant issues, while other project activities provide learning opportunities for youth and adults in rural communities.

To support the Natchitoches-NSU Folk Festival. The festival will celebrate Louisiana's ranching culture with traditional music from the region, as well as material culture displays, demonstrations, and narrative stages focused on the state's horse and cattle culture.

To support the Peking Opera Festival. Founded by NEA National Heritage Fellow Qi Shu Fang, the organization will present a series of performances of Peking Opera, with an interactive lecture and workshop accompanying each performance. The series will conclude with a production of the Legend of the White Snake.

To support the Living Traditions Festival. The festival will present the authentic music, dance, foodways, and crafts of Salt Lake Valley's ethnic communities, both native and newcomers. Folklorists will identify traditional artists and present them in the festival.

To support Diverse Voices: Discovering Community through Traditional Arts. The project will develop a permanent gallery to showcase and interpret the McKissick Museum's folklife collection and ongoing folklife research in the state.

To support Celebrating Cultures: Washington State Parks' Folk and Traditional Arts in the Parks. In conjunction with the commission's centennial celebration, Celebrating Cultures will present as many as two concert series and five festival events, featuring folk, ethnic, and indigenous artists from around the state.

This 30th anniversary gathering will present a multifaceted picture of the West through readings, performances, exhibits, discussions, workshops, and films featuring traditional artistic expressions, such as song, story, and poetry, as well material and visual arts. Programming will expand beyond the ranching community to include other rural and agrarian cultures.

To support Living Traditions, Living Arts, a performance series of world music and dance. Masters of tradition from Asia, the Mideast, Europe, Africa, and the Americas, will participate in classes, artist workshops, film screenings, and exhibits.

To support Art of the Hunt: Wyoming Traditions. The project will produce a traveling exhibit and related programs celebrating the state's hunting traditions as manifested in crafts, rituals, stories, hunting techniques, and visual arts.
