To support the exhibition Pax Americana by American artist David Gurman at the Luggage Store. Constructed in collaboration with a team of experts in seismology, music, robotics, and electromechanical engineering Gurman's installation Pax Americana will convert real time seismic data into music performed robotically by a quintet composed of piano, viola, cello, bassoon, and a timpani.

American Academy in Rome

To support a residency opportunity for visual artists to create, interpret, and present new work. The residency will provide an opportunity for three American artists to spend a year in Rome in the historic setting on the Janiculum, one of the highest hills within the walls of Rome, and will include housing, a studio, meals, and a stipend.

To support a residency program for ceramic artists. During the month-long residency artists Brad Schwieger, Christa Assad, Matthew Metz, Liz Quackenbush, Cristina Cordova, and Matt Long will receive studio space, housing, an honorarium, a materials budget, and transportation; they will participate in public demonstrations, lectures, and workshops culminating in an exhibition of representative work at the Bray's North Gallery Exhibition space.

To support an exhibitions program for artists with developmental and physical disabilities. More than 120 participants with intellectual, developmental, emotional, psychological, and physical disabilities will create, curate, and present between 25 to 30 pieces of art, each based on a variety of unique themes and art techniques, which will be viewed by more than 30,000 people during the year-long exhibition series displayed at various locations in Los Angeles County.

To support the creation of the Artists' Prospectus for the Nation, a multi-media artwork and publication with related digital and Web-based components. Artists Leeza Meskin, Alison Williams, and Formless Finder - a collaboration between Julian Rose and Garrett Ricciardi - have each proposed projects that imagine new uses for and public engagement within the park that will draw attention to issues of ecology and sustainability.

Deluge, curated by Rachel Gugelberger and Reynard Loki will present the work of artists who develop visual interpretations of data collected from readily accessible digital information; Carbon, curated by David Buckland, will include new site-specific work presenting creative and innovative responses to climate change by artists Antony Gormley, Cynthia Hopkins, and Ackroyd and Harvey.

To support a visiting artist residency in printmaking with accompanying exhibition and catalogue celebrating Brandywine's 40th anniversary. During each two-week residency, 10 artists selected by curator Cheryl Finley will produce new print-based works to be exhibited alongside the work of five former artists-in-residence.

To support the creation of an outdoor social and environmental sculpture by artist Matthew Mazzotta. The artist will collaborate with the Coleman Center and area citizens to create a multi-purpose public space that will float on Lake Louise in York, Alabama, using recycled materials from an abandoned building.

To support a retrospective exhibition of the video work by American artist Ann Hamilton (b. 1956). Best known for textile art and richly layered sculptures, Hamilton is also active in the fields of photography, printmaking, and video installation; the exhibition will explore video installations that portray actions monotonously repeated such as pouring, polishing, writing, drawing, erasing, breathing, and walking.

To support the expansion of The Front Room, an ongoing series of short exhibitions featuring the work of emerging artists and experimental curatorial trends. The project will increase the number of artists invited to create works on-site, expand community outreach for the exhibitions, produce a Pocket Guide to Pronunciation, and publish a retrospective catalogue of the more than 100 artists and curators represented in The Front Room since its debut in 2008.

To support the presentation of Open Air, an interactive public art installation by Mexican Canadian artist Rafael Lozano-Hemmer. The installation will use 24 robotic searchlights to create a canopy of light along a half-mile stretch of the Benjamin Franklin Parkway; the fanning lights visible from as far as 15 miles away will respond to a community of voices and will be activated by the participants' spoken words and GPS locations; an accompanying day-long symposium will explore the possibilities of technology in the service of art.

To support FotoFest 2012, the International Biennial of Photography and Photo-related Art in Houston, TX. The series offers exhibitions for US and international artists, an international portfolio review, an artist scholarship program, workshops, symposia, discussion, tours, film screenings, and a catalogue; the theme of the principal exhibition is "Contemporary Russian Photography," which will be curated by independent Russian curators Evgeny Berezner and Irina Tchmyreva.

New work will be created and exhibited during a three-week residency of a group of five ceramic artists and researchers with experience and a keen interest in collaboratively exploring the challenges and possibilities of new digital fabrication; residents will engage in a series of regular collaborative 'think tank' sessions throughout the residency to discuss the artistic concerns, technological issues and broader questions raised by the ongoing production of their works; there will be a panel discussion for the public on the topic of ceramics and new technology during the residency.
