John Michael Kohler Arts Center, Inc (Consortium)

To support an artists-in-residence program. In collaboration with the Plymouth School District, the Kohler Arts Center  will provide two-week residencies for eight visual artists during the 2011-12 school year.

To support the Arts Education Initiative. In partnership with the Madison Ballet, Madison Symphony Orchestra, Madison Opera, Children's Theater of Madison, and Madison Museum of Contemporary Art and Madison Metropolitan School District schools, Overture Center for the Arts will oversee a year-long interdisciplinary after-school arts program led by professional artists for sixth-grade students.

To support HeartStrings, a community outreach project by an ensemble of the orchestra's professional string musicians that will provide residency programs and perform interactive recitals for underserved and special-needs communities. Through 90 residency programs reaching 20 to 25 participants during each session, more than 2,800 children and adults with special needs will participate in the project.

To support a multi-state school tour of a new production of Hansel and Gretel by composer Engelbert Humperdinck. Teaching materials provided to schools will include a tutorial compact disc with vocal and piano parts, a teacher's guide about opera as an art form, and activities for integration of the opera into academic subjects.

To support the Lunt-Fontanne Fellowship Program. Up to 10 renowned American actors, nominated by and representing ten of the nation's premier regional theaters, will join actress Olympia Dukakis for a week-long master class and immersion experience at Ten Chimneys.

University of Wisconsin at Madison (on behalf of Center for the Study of Upper Midwestern Culture)

To support a commissioning and performance project celebrating the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Pro Arte Quartet. Founded in 1912 in Brussels, the Belgian string ensemble was performing on a U.S. concert tour when Europe broke out in World War ; the musicians remained permanently in the U.S. by accepting a residency at the University of Wisconsin at Madison in 1940.
