To support the Best Practices Technical Assistance Program, providing technical assistance and cultural expertise to folk and traditional arts organizations across the country. In its third year, the project will arrange short-term consultancies to advise organizations in crucial areas such as fieldwork, archiving, event production, publication design, or organizational management, and facilitate professional development opportunities for the staff of organizations engaged in folk and traditional arts work.

To support the 2011 Cityfolk Festival, an annual presentation of traditional music, dance, and visual arts, and the related Culture Builds Community project, a residency program placing folk artists in local schools. To support readings, workshops, and multidisciplinary events targeting students, teachers, veterans, and senior adults at the Wick Poetry Center. Among the programs offered is Traveling Stanzas, which sponsors workshops and discussion groups in schools, hospitals, and veterans organizations throughout northeast Ohio that will result in poetry posters displayed on mass-transit, animated videos, and e-greetings.

To support the creation of a new play with music in partnership with immigrant populations and migrant work forces in the industrial and agricultural sectors of rural Ohio. Students at Carver and Orchard Schools will learn printmaking, stop motion animation, West African drumming, and documentary film making; summer camp students will create complex rhythms tracks, design and create large-scale paintings, write poetry, and produce hip-hop events.
