Arts Council of Greater Baton Rouge, Inc.

To support the presentation of the River City Jazz Masters concert series and the accompanying jazz series, The Listening Room. In addition to performances, proposed artists Diane Schuur, Vincent Herring, the Dave Holland Quintet, and the Joe Lovano Quintet - among others - will conduct master classes and participate in artist residencies.

To support a multifaceted campaign to document New Orleans public art created in the last 25 years through the Percent for Arts Program. Project activity will include the digitization of Percent for Arts archive files and the creation of video vignettes highlighting 25 public artworks.

Arts Council Silicon Valley
San Jose, CA

To support the Community Arts Fund (CAF), a subgranting program that supports artistic programming presented by arts organizations in Santa Clara County. The CAF, one of the Council's three funding categories for arts organizations, will provide project support with grants ranging from $1,500 to $4,000 for arts activities reflective of the area's multicultural constituency.

Arts Partnership of Greater Spartanburg, Inc.

To support the Arts Education Program. Program components include the Muse Machine, a series of in-school performances by professional artists designed to provide broad-based exposure to the arts; an artist residency program; and special performances for young audiences at the Chapman Cultural Center presented by both local arts organizations and touring companies.

To support the production of a series of arts events featuring Memphis arts organizations and artists for the benefit of identified underserved communities. In addition to selected individual artists, among the several arts organizations participating in the series are Ballet Memphis, the Memphis Brooks Museum of Art, Memphis Symphony Orchestra, Opera Memphis, and Playhouse on the Square.

To support the 1st Thursday DUMBO Gallery Walk and associated programming. In partnership with the DUMBO Improvement District, the Council will present a series of multidisciplinary arts events in the Archway under the Manhattan Bridge, as well as an exhibition including solo artist installations and thematic group shows.

To support the Mini-Grant and Cultural Diversity Programs. These subgranting programs support cultural activities presented by artists and community-based cultural organizations and provide assistance for small, not-for-profit cultural organizations serving diverse ethnicities.

To support Let the Public Play, a demonstration playground. The multidisciplinary project will engage a team of designers and artists to create temporary playground structures that will demonstrate the power of open-ended play in public spaces for all generations.

To support Mixing Messages/Reinvigorating Tradition, a series of interrelated musical performances. Performances, workshops, lectures, and other outreach activities featuring varied musical genres will be presented at the Oats Park Art Center.

To support the Cultural Experience Project (CEP), a multidisciplinary arts program providing youth with exposure to local arts and culture performances. A partnership with the Atlanta Public School System, the CEP will provide Atlanta school children the opportunity to attend a performance at selected arts or cultural venues throughout the city.

To support KEYS (Khan Education for Youth & Schools), an educational program for Genghis Khan: The Exhibition. The interactive exhibition of more than 200 artifacts presents the historical figure through the perspective of arts and culture, history, and geography.

To support Sleepless Night 2011, a series of performances and exhibitions to take place from sundown to sunrise. Inspired by Paris's Nuit Blanche, the third edition of the citywide celebration will include art installations, performances, exhibitions, architectural tours, and other cultural offerings.

To support the restoration and reinstallation of El Gran Teatro de La Luna, a public artwork created by Rafael Ferrer. The painted aluminum piece that was commissioned in 1982 will be restored by Ferrer and Upscale Welding, the firm that originally fabricated the work.

City of Pittsfield, Massachusetts (on behalf of Office of Cultural Development)

To support a festival, Lift Ev'ry Voice: Celebrating African-American Culture & Heritage in the Berkshires. The regional arts festival will take place in multiple locations throughout Berkshire County in western Massachusetts and will be produced in collaboration with local cultural and civic organizations including, among others, the Barrington Stage Company, Mass MoCA, and the Friends of W.E.B. Dubois Homesite.

City of San Jose, California Office of Cultural Affairs, Office of Economic Development (aka City of San Jose Office of Cultural Affairs)

To support the development of key multimedia elements to enhance public access to the artworks and related cultural history elements of the Alum Rock Cultural History Corridor. Project activity will highlight site-specific artworks and artist-designed markers identifying acclaimed artists such as Luis Valdez and Los Tigres Del Norte and their connections to the Alum Rock community.

To support a subgranting program for Santa Cruz County artists and arts organizations. Funding supports cultural festivals, community celebrations, and the presentation of traditional art forms in Santa Cruz County.

Cultural Development Authority of King County (aka 4Culture)

To support Site Specific, an annual series of innovative site-specific events in a variety of community settings and cities throughout King County, Washington. Now in its sixth year, this program works in collaboration with a network of more than 25 King County local arts agencies to facilitate art creation partnerships among local cities, businesses, arts organizations, and individual artists.

To support Cultural Crossroads 3: Bridging Cultures, Bridging Community, Bridging Generations, featuring the presentation of jazz and world music at Flushing Town Hall. Project activities will include public performances, workshops, and panel discussions featuring artists such as Daniel Bernard-Roumain (known as DBR), the Ravi Coltrane Quartet, Rudresh Mahanthappa, and Jimmy Heath, among numerous others.

To support the implementation of a public art commission for downtown Lexington, Kentucky. The work will be selected from one of five finalists identified through a jury selection process that included local community involvement.

To support the presentation of newly commissioned artworks for the AxS Festival 2011, celebrating the arts and sciences. Under the theme of Fire and Water, the festival will bring together area arts, cultural, and research institutions to offer performances, exhibitions, presentations, and public conversations celebrating the arts and sciences.

To support the Literature in Translation "Think Tank" (LiTT) that will focus on issues critical to literary translation. Developed in partnership with Words Without Borders, LiTT will include the convening of representatives from the literary field, readings, and other author presentations.

To support the design, fabrication, and installation of Milling Around Glass Wall, a public art project. Guided by public art consultant Janet Kagan, the project will feature the work of visual artist Heidi Lippman.

San Francisco Arts Commission

To support an exhibition and related activities featuring the work of Elizabeth Axtman, David Huffman, and Travis Somerville. The multi-sited exhibition, focusing on three Bay Area artists whose work explores race in America, will be installed in two of the commission's gallery spaces and will also include an online component and a community-based, site-specific location.
