As part of Crumb's 80th birthday celebration, plans include performances of the composer's chamber music by the Aeolian Chamber Players, discussions, and master classes for composition students, including one led by the composer. FIELD/DISCIPLINE: Folk and Traditional Arts To support Artists-of-the-Forest. The project will include a regional fieldwork survey to identify and document traditional artists in the Northern Forest region and organize artists' gatherings in New York, Vermont, New Hampshire, and Maine. FIELD/DISCIPLINE: Folk and Traditional Arts To support a Traditional Arts Apprenticeship Program and the Maine Indian Basketmakers Gathering/Festival. The project will support basketmakers and apprentices in traditional ash and sweetgrass basketry of Maine's Passamaquoddy, Maliseet, and Penobscot tribes. Maine State Museum Augusta, ME $100,000

FIELD/DISCIPLINE: Visual Arts Touring To support the touring exhibition Uncommon Threads: Wabanaki Textiles, Clothing and Costume. The exhibition will focus on the little known, traditional textile arts of the Wabanaki peoples from the prehistoric period to the late 19th century. Portland Museum of Art Portland, ME $30,000
