FIELD/DISCIPLINE: Dance To support the presentation of the James Sewell Ballet at the Alaska Dance Theatre. Alaska Dance Theatre (ADT) will learn two pieces from James Sewell Ballet's (JSB) repertory, one which will become part of ADT's repertory, and one which will be performed jointly with JSB. FIELD/DISCIPLINE: Design To support FREEZE, an outdoor winter exhibition with public programs, and an accompanying catalogue. FIELD/DISCIPLINE: Presenting To support artist residencies and music, dance, and theater presentations at the Alaska Center for the Performing Arts. FIELD/DISCIPLINE: Challenge America To support the presentation of Viva Zarzuela. Co-directed by soprano Mari Hahn, the fully staged production will feature selected student apprentices and will be presented at the University of Alaska's Fine Arts Recital Hall, highlighting repertory selections of zarzuela, a Spanish form of lyric theater. FIELD/DISCIPLINE: Theater To support the development and production of world premieres that will celebrate Alaska's 50th anniversary and the theater's 30th anniversary. The project will showcase emerging and established Alaskan and national artists, exploring themes of independence, responsibility, building community, and coming of age.
