WEST VIRGINIA Davis & Elkins College Elkins, WV $25,000 CATEGORY: Access to Artistic Excellence FIELD/DISCIPLINE: Folk and Traditional Arts To support the Traditional Arts Program. Activities will include the West Virginia Folk Arts Apprenticeship Program, concerts, and the Old-Time Fiddler's Reunion. Greenbrier Repertory Theatre Company (aka Greenbrier Valley Theatre) Lewisburg, WV $10,000 CATEGORY: Access to Artistic Excellence FIELD/DISCIPLINE: Theater To support a production of A Streetcar Named Desire by Tennessee Williams. The production will be accompanied by pre-show seminars, study guides for high school students, and post-show discussions. West Virginia Division of Culture and History/Arts Section Charleston, WV $549,900 CATEGORY: Partnership FIELD/DISCIPLINE: State & Regional To support Partnership Agreement activities. West Virginia Public Broadcasting Foundation, Inc. Charleston, WV $10,000 CATEGORY: Access to Artistic Excellence FIELD/DISCIPLINE: Media Arts To support the production and broadcast of the radio series Mountain Stage. Distributed by Public Radio International to more than 100 stations throughout the United States, the weekly, two-hour program presents contemporary music and traditional roots performers. West Virginia Symphony Orchestra, Inc. (aka WVSO) Charleston, WV $12,500 CATEGORY: Access to Artistic Excellence FIELD/DISCIPLINE: Music To support a statewide tour to underserved rural communities. The orchestra, under the leadership of Music Director Grant Cooper, will introduce orchestral music to new audiences throughout West Virginia. Wheeling Symphony Society, Inc. Wheeling, WV $10,000 CATEGORY: Access to Artistic Excellence FIELD/DISCIPLINE: Music To support young people's concerts throughout the state of West Virginia, with accompanying educational materials. The touring outreach project will reach youth in eight counties of the state.
