RHODE ISLAND Alliance of Artists Communities Providence, RI $40,000 CATEGORY: Access to Artistic Excellence FIELD/DISCIPLINE: Presenting To support a series of leadership development activities for staff and board members of artists' communities. Project components will include the Leadership Institute, the Pacific Northwest Regional Meeting, and the Board Track at the annual conference. Community Musicworks (aka CMW) Providence, RI $10,000 CATEGORY: Access to Artistic Excellence FIELD/DISCIPLINE: Music To support free music education and performance programs targeted to at-risk children and youth. The Providence String Quartet will be in residence and will teach and mentor students as well as perform in its downtown storefront facility and other community venues. FirstWorks (Consortium) Providence, RI $18,000 CATEGORY: Access to Artistic Excellence FIELD/DISCIPLINE: Presenting To support the production of FirstWorksProv Festival 2007. The series of New England performance premieres will be produced in partnership with the City of Providence and will extend into communities through forums, workshops, lectures, and discounted admissions. Project New Urban Arts Providence, RI $25,000 CATEGORY: Learning in the Arts FIELD/DISCIPLINE: Learning in the Arts for Children & Youth To support the Youth Mentorship Program and the Teaching Artist Residency Component. The project is based on a community plan that enables young emerging artists to design and implement arts initiatives as mentors to high school students in after-school and summer studio arts programs in the visual and literary arts. Rhode Island State Council on the Arts Providence, RI $619,600 CATEGORY: Partnership FIELD/DISCIPLINE: State & Regional To support Partnership Agreement activities.
