MISSOURI COCA - Center of Creative Arts St. Louis, MO $35,000 CATEGORY: Learning in the Arts FIELD/DISCIPLINE: Learning in the Arts for Children & Youth To support the Dance Outreach and Pre-Professional Dance Programs. The activities will provide intensive dance training for low-income students and year-long residencies at elementary schools. Curators of the University of Missouri at Columbia (Consortium) Columbia, MO $25,000 CATEGORY: Access to Artistic Excellence FIELD/DISCIPLINE: Folk and Traditional Arts To support the Missouri Traditional Arts Apprenticeship Program. A collaboration with the Missouri State Council on the Arts, the project will bring together masters and apprentices who are committed to conserving their artistic traditions and cultural heritage. Dance St. Louis St. Louis, MO $10,000 CATEGORY: Access to Artistic Excellence FIELD/DISCIPLINE: Dance To support dance residencies for underserved middle and high school students. The residencies will be offered in conjunction with Tango Buenos Aires and Garth Fagan Dance performances. Grace Hill Settlement House St. Louis, MO $15,000 CATEGORY: Access to Artistic Excellence FIELD/DISCIPLINE: Visual Arts To support a quilting project to document the region's role in the underground railroad movement. Artist Edna Patterson-Petty will be commissioned to create a series of quilts working with four Mississippi River communities where many heroic crossings to freedom occurred. Kansas City Friends of Alvin Ailey, Inc. (Consortium) Kansas City, MO $10,000 CATEGORY: Access to Artistic Excellence FIELD/DISCIPLINE: Dance To support the presentation of an Ailey II residency. The project, in partnership with Kaw Valley Arts & Humanities, will include public and school performances and community outreach programs. Kansas City Friends of Alvin Ailey, Inc. (Consortium) Kansas City, MO $32,000 CATEGORY: Learning in the Arts FIELD/DISCIPLINE: Learning in the Arts for Children & Youth To support AileyCamp and AileyCamp/The Group. Both dance education programs will be organized in partnership with the KAW Valley Arts & Humanities, Inc. AileyCamp is an intensive summer dance program of jazz, tap, modern, and ballet; The Group is a continuation of the summer training that takes place during the school year. Metro Theater Company St. Louis, MO $25,000 CATEGORY: Access to Artistic Excellence FIELD/DISCIPLINE: Theater To support the production and national tour of original works. The company will mount new plays for young audiences and will tour those works throughout Missouri, Illinois, and neighboring states. Mid-America Arts Alliance (aka M-AAA) Kansas City, MO $1,026,600 CATEGORY: Partnership FIELD/DISCIPLINE: State & Regional To support Partnership Agreement activities. Missouri State Council on the Arts St. Louis, MO $588,600 CATEGORY: Partnership FIELD/DISCIPLINE: State & Regional To support Partnership Agreement activities. Opera Theatre of Saint Louis (Consortium) St. Louis, MO $50,000 CATEGORY: Learning in the Arts FIELD/DISCIPLINE: Learning in the Arts for Children & Youth To support Artists-In-Training. A partnership with the University of Missouri at St. Louis, the program will provide opportunities for urban high school students to pursue individual vocal coaching from professional voice teachers. ReStart, Inc. Kansas City, MO $35,000 CATEGORY: Learning in the Arts FIELD/DISCIPLINE: Learning in the Arts for Children & Youth To support Arts at ReStart, a media arts education project. Professional artists will lead year-round, weekly after-school and weekend classes that will explore media literacy, video production, and issues of personal identity for children who live in shelters for homeless families. Robert L. Reed Tap Heritage Institute Saint Louis, MO $10,000 CATEGORY: Access to Artistic Excellence FIELD/DISCIPLINE: Dance To support the 16th annual St. Louis Tap Festival. The festival features nationally and internationally acclaimed tap artists from around the United States in performances and residency activities. Saint Louis Symphony Orchestra St. Louis, MO $30,000 CATEGORY: Learning in the Arts FIELD/DISCIPLINE: Learning in the Arts for Children & Youth To support Adopt-A-School. The program includes orchestral musicians and staff presenting a 12-week music education curriculum to second-grade students in four urban schools, and transporting them to Powell Symphony Hall for educational concerts. That Uppity Theatre Company St. Louis, MO $10,000 CATEGORY: Access to Artistic Excellence FIELD/DISCIPLINE: Theater To support the DisAbility Project, an ensemble of performers who create and tour original works about the culture of disability to schools and public venues. The project comprises individuals from diverse backgrounds with and without physical and/or cognitive disabilities.
