Miami Beach, FL $20,000 CATEGORY: Access to Artistic Excellence FIELD/DISCIPLINE: Visual Arts To support publication of a book exploring the future of visual arts education. The book builds upon a series of symposia held in Miami, New York, and London, examining the state of arts education and the exploration of a new direction that responds to demands and issues of the 21st century. Cathedral Arts Projects Inc Jacksonville, FL $25,000 CATEGORY: Learning in the Arts FIELD/DISCIPLINE: Learning in the Arts for Children & Youth To support a free, after-school art, music, and dance program targeted to at-risk elementary school children. Teaching artists will provide two hours of instruction two days each week in chorus, dance, a musical instrument, or the visual arts during the after-school hours at elementary schools and community-based organizations. Cultural Council of Greater Jacksonville, Inc. Jacksonville, FL $20,000 CATEGORY: Access to Artistic Excellence FIELD/DISCIPLINE: Local Arts Agencies To support community outreach activities associated with the Arts in Public Places Program. The outreach program will highlight Jacksonville's public art collection through a speaker's bureau, printed promotional materials, and a resource kit including digital images. Daytona Beach Community College (on behalf of Southeast Museum of Photography) Daytona Beach, FL $19,000 CATEGORY: Learning in the Arts FIELD/DISCIPLINE: Learning in the Arts for Children & Youth To support Image & Identity, a summer photography program. As many as 24 high schools students will study with three master photographers to improve their technical skills and examine cultural influences on photography. Family Resources, Inc. (Consortium) Pinellas Park, FL $40,000 CATEGORY: Learning in the Arts FIELD/DISCIPLINE: Learning in the Arts for Children & Youth To support Youth Art Corps. A partnership with the Gulf Coast Museum of Art, the project will provide training and place professional artists in juvenile detention centers, runaway and homeless shelters, and other community-based settings. Florida Department of State/ Division of Cultural Affairs Tallahassee, FL $714,000 CATEGORY: Partnership FIELD/DISCIPLINE: State & Regional To support Partnership Agreement activities. Florida Division of Historical Resources Tallahassee, FL $25,000 CATEGORY: Access to Artistic Excellence FIELD/DISCIPLINE: Folk and Traditional Arts To support folk arts outreach activities. Core activities will include fieldwork, the Folklife Apprenticeship Program, and the Folklife InReach Educational Program. Greater Miami Youth Symphony of Dade County Florida, Inc. Miami, FL $23,000 CATEGORY: Learning in the Arts FIELD/DISCIPLINE: Learning in the Arts for Children & Youth To support the Greater Miami Youth Symphony Summer Institute. Professional artists will offer summer music instruction for youth, ages five to 18. Historical Association of Southern Florida Miami, FL $10,000 CATEGORY: Access to Artistic Excellence FIELD/DISCIPLINE: Folk and Traditional Arts To support fieldwork in the Caribbean, South American, Central American, and African American communities in Miami-Dade County. Fieldwork will result in the creation of an Artists Access Implementation Plan, outlining strategies, and/or processes that will be used to strengthen artist access to museum resources. Key West Symphony Orchestra, Inc. Key West, FL $10,000 CATEGORY: Access to Artistic Excellence FIELD/DISCIPLINE: Music To support Bridging the Keys with Music, a tour throughout the Florida Keys. Celebrating its 10th anniversary season, the orchestra will perform 10 concerts conducted by Music Director Sebrina Maria Alfonso in 10 Keys communities. Miami Dade College (on behalf of Department of Cultural Affairs) Miami, FL $45,000 CATEGORY: Access to Artistic Excellence FIELD/DISCIPLINE: Presenting To support Cultura del Lobo, a project of Miami Dade College and the Miami Department of Cultural Affairs. The performance series and artist residency activities will focus on contemporary work of world cultures. Miami Hispanic Ballet Corp. Miami, FL $10,000 CATEGORY: Access to Artistic Excellence FIELD/DISCIPLINE: Dance To support the XII International Ballet Festival of Miami. The festival includes ballet performances, open rehearsals, workshops, master classes, a dance film series, and an art exhibition. Miami-Dade County (on behalf of Vizcaya Museum and Gardens) Miami, FL $14,000 CATEGORY: Access to Artistic Excellence FIELD/DISCIPLINE: Museum To support a provenance research project. The Vizcaya Museum will conduct in-depth research for a two-year period on the provenance of its Mendel Collection National Foundation for Advancement in the Arts (aka NFAA) Miami, FL $25,000 CATEGORY: Access to Artistic Excellence FIELD/DISCIPLINE: Presenting To support the Arts Recognition and Talent Search (ARTS) and ARTS Week programs. A limited number of high school seniors will be selected to participate through a national competition in the categories of dance, film, visual arts, drama, and writing. Orlando Opera Company, Inc. Orlando, FL $30,000 CATEGORY: Learning in the Arts FIELD/DISCIPLINE: Learning in the Arts for Children & Youth To support opera education activities. The company will present in-school performances in 100 schools and youth concerts (for all third- through fifth-grade students) at Bob Carr Performing Arts Center, support the Orlando Youth Opera program, and conduct opera residencies. Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra, Inc. Orlando, FL $10,000 CATEGORY: Access to Artistic Excellence FIELD/DISCIPLINE: Music To support performances and educational activities related to the Copland Chronicles concert program. Performing Arts Center Trust, Inc. (aka Carnival Center for the Performing Arts) Miami, FL $25,000 CATEGORY: Access to Artistic Excellence FIELD/DISCIPLINE: Presenting To support a residency by poet/playwright/performer Carl Hancock Rux at the Carnival Center for the Performing Arts. The artist will create an opera and conduct professional development activities for local artists. Teatro Avante, Inc. Miami, FL $35,000 CATEGORY: Access to Artistic Excellence FIELD/DISCIPLINE: Theater To support the 22nd International Hispanic Theatre Festival. The festival presents audiences with multilingual theater productions of contemporary and classical works by acclaimed international companies from Latin America, Europe, Asia, and the United States. (Consortium) Miami, FL $10,000 CATEGORY: Access to Artistic Excellence FIELD/DISCIPLINE: Dance To support a series of performances, workshops, panels, and film screenings exploring and promoting dance for people with disabilities. DanceAble VIII will take place in collaboration with the Florida Dance Association. Vero Beach Museum of Art, Inc. (Consortium) Vero Beach, FL $10,000 CATEGORY: Access to Artistic Excellence FIELD/DISCIPLINE: Museum To support the museum's intergenerational arts education programs. The project is a collaboration among the Drug Abuse Treatment Association (DATA Hayslip), the Indian River Council on Aging, and the Gifford Youth Activity Center (GYAC) Senior Citizen's program. Young At Art of Broward, Inc. (aka Young At Art Children's Museum) Davie, FL $30,000 CATEGORY: Access to Artistic Excellence FIELD/DISCIPLINE: Museum To support ArtREACH, and after school arts education center for children living in shelters. The program engages the students in the learning of art skills, interaction with professional artists, and exploration of world cultures.
