ALASKA Alaska Arts Southeast, Inc. (aka Sitka Fine Arts Camp) Sitka, AK $35,000 CATEGORY: Learning in the Arts FIELD/DISCIPLINE: Learning in the Arts for Children & Youth To support Sitka Fine Arts Camp. Professional artists from Alaska and other states will lead workshops offering age-appropriate training in Alaskan Native arts, dance, music, theater, writing, and visual arts. Alaska Design Forum, Inc. (aka ADF) Anchorage, AK $15,000 CATEGORY: Access to Artistic Excellence FIELD/DISCIPLINE: Design To support a site-specific installation and lecture series focused on stimulating discussion of the built environment. Internationally recognized designers and artists will be invited to speak in Anchorage, Fairbanks, and Juneau. Alaska Junior Theater, Inc. Anchorage, AK $10,000 CATEGORY: Access to Artistic Excellence FIELD/DISCIPLINE: Theater To support the presentation of touring productions for students and family audiences. Aesop Bops by David Gonzales and The Snow Dragon by the Tall Stores Theater of London will be presented in Anchorage and the Matanuska-Susitna Borough. Alaska State Council on the Arts Anchorage, AK $539,600 CATEGORY: Partnership FIELD/DISCIPLINE: State & Regional To support Partnership Agreement activities. City and Borough of Juneau School District (Consortium) Juneau, AK $10,000 CATEGORY: Learning in the Arts FIELD/DISCIPLINE: Learning in the Arts for Children & Youth To support Prologue, a theater education program. In partnership with Perseverance Theatre, every ninth-grade student in Juneau will study and perform portions of Shakespeare's Henry IV under the direction of professional actors. Sitka Summer Music Festival Inc. Anchorage, AK $10,000 CATEGORY: Access to Artistic Excellence FIELD/DISCIPLINE: Music To support concert tours of chamber music in cities and rural communities in Alaska. The concerts will serve the communities of Anchorage, Bethel, Cordova, Kenai, Seldovia, Sitka, and Talkeetna.
